In fashion, to say that the designer is a genius seems an
enormous disrespect seeing that already, in the Greek-Roman mythology, these
were the deity protecting each person’s life. The invention, the creativity,
are the most congenial adjectives for the designer of fashion; when his
works bring forth the mark of universality this means that his talent is not
closed within himself but rather it is closer to the imaginary. When he
assimilates science, customs, poetry, or all ideas that are inspired from
any part, and transforms them into a finished product it is art. It is art
when the spontaneous creativity is fed from the historical memory and from
the past becoming variety, culture. It is culture if at the moment of
invention it is granted the time to penetrate inside of us to be able to
assimilate its body and its content, to create roots. It is not true that in
fashion there is no longer anything invented, it is not true that every year
there are presentations of lines that are the result of a flashy fishing
expedition from past cultures like the ancient Egyptian one, the eastern,
etc...They are journeys into the past, admiration for civility that made up
the history of the world, sources of inspirations for the renewal of a
cultural pleasantry. There we are: the third millennium has begun and the
greatest creators’ count down imposes a greater coherence, a careful
precision; quality is the myth and together with our days’ nightmare and its
own search generates insane phenomenon. For the Italian product, “made in
America” a general harmony is necessary, a sole organizational center
capable of establishing itself as an indisputable and authoritative point of
reference. The continuous revival of the collections should be based on a
production specifically adaptable to the different demands and to the
communication directed to the trade as well as the buyers. |
